A Text Converter similarly saves a complete PDF document as a simple text file. It's easy to embed movies and audio files into your PDF documents. And Foxit Reader's Safe Mode has been enhanced to offer even more protection from malicious PDF files.

Good but becoming ever more bloated Posted by: Poxy Pig, 16 November 2014 00:22 I've been using Foxit for years and always found it excellent. The problem is that every new version has new features I don't need and can't reject making it bigger and slower than the last. Updating never seems to go smoothly either. I've had to sort out messed-up installs several times. Hallmark Greetings Workshop.

Version 7 won't work on my XP system so I've had to revert to 6.2.3, which takes up at least 92MB. The updater alone is 11MB and the Foxit executable 37MB so I really can't imagine where your 10.6MB claim comes from!

It is possible to get rid of the terrible ribbon interface, fortunately. You have all missed the point! Yes Editors included!!!! Posted by: George, 13 June 2014 04:41 Foxit PDF is NOW both a PDF reader and a PDF printer/creator.

Certainly justification for a slight name change. That is why it has grown so much in size. In fact its the only FREE combined PDF reader and PDF creator/printer that I know, still comparatively tiny in size and very good too.

Grab it whilst its still free! Forget the old Foxit Reader. Its obselete now with this new combined reader/printer/creator version.

S*it can happen! Posted by: Jon, 14 January 2014 16:25 So what did happen to this then stabe/fast/lightweight alternative to Adobe Reader? I used to erase Adobe from every machine I was working on and install this instead. Since it zapped to v6 it seems supa heavy (installed program is 80MB against half less for v5), dead slow (hanging). What with the sloppy Microsoft Office ribbon design?

If you miss the good old days, do like me, stick to v5.4.5.0124 (the ultimate non professional v5 build prior to v6) uncheck additional installs and disable automatic updates. It perfectly does the job. V5 is missing from Foxit products repository's, but you could easily grab it from any other website such as FileHippo. 4 stars to the older versions.

2 stars since V6. Added Recently Posted by: Stephen Hazelwood, 12 January 2014 22:25 I have to agree with 'The Crew's' Mike Williams on his rating & recommendation of this program. I recently downloaded, installed, & tried it out because of the recommendation. So this is the 1st time ever trying any version of it & from my time of using it, it's never caused problem 1 & does everything so seamlessly, without a hiccup on my computer's resources. I'm glad I got it & I even set it to my default reader & got rid of the resource hog, Adobe Reader.
